1 Timothy 6:17… Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. (NKJV)
God wants His children to enjoy life (and Him); but so many Christians are missing out on the absolute joy that comes from the fellowship with the Lord that is developed over time…through an intimate personal one on One relationship with Him. This relationship starts by placing our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.
The world puts their trust in material possessions, typically seeking wealth and prosperity as their main focus in life. But there will never be a real God-given supernatural peace and a fullness of joy, unless Christ becomes Lord and Master of a persons life. (See the link at the end for more on how God graces the sinner with salvation, through saving faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ…Ephesians 2:8-9)
Once the unredeemed sinner becomes a Christian in God’s eyes, the relationship between the Christian and the Lord can only develop and mature by spending time growing closer to the Lord. This is accomplished through constant prayer and trust in the Lord…and through being fed, by reading and meditating on God’s Word…Matthew 4:4… The more you learn about God, and His infinite love He has for His children…the more you will want to know about the Creator of heaven and earth.
Most people wouldn’t be comfortable sitting next to a total stranger. You will never be able to enjoy the Lord, unless you get to know Him on a personal, intimate basis.
I am reminded of the following scripture penned by the Apostle Paul, about the infinite love of Christ, in…Ephesians 3:17-19… that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (NKJV)
This intimate relationship with the Lord can only prosper and flourish, if the Christian remains “filled with all the fullness of God“. Any unconfessed sins will destroy the sweet fellowship that “Walking in the Spirit” will produce in the life of a Christian who allows the Holy Spirit to direct their lives. Sins that are immediately confessed and turned from (1 John 1:9), will keep the Christian righteous in God’s eyes, and filled with a joy that only God can provide.
Jesus tells us that as Christians we should abide in His love, in…John 15:9… Jesus then tells us this, in…John 15:11-12… “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (NKJV)
There is so much more you will learn about how to enjoy God, by listening to Dr. Charles Stanley’s 2 days of audio sermons, found @
Heavenly Father, I pray that eyes would be opened to the truth found in Your Word, and spoken by Your faithful servant Dr. Stanley. Help all of us Lord, through the power and the conviction of the Holy Spirit…to be able to learn how to enjoy life by humbly submitting our lives into Your loving hands. I pray for this fullness of Christ in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
Blessings in Christ, bruce r mills
