“Wandering Aimlessly Lost”
“Household gods give false advice, fortune-tellers predict only lies, and interpreters of dreams pronounce comfortless falsehoods. So my people are wandering like lost sheep, without a shepherd to protect and guide them.” Zechariah 10:2 NLT
Although painful, those of us who know what it was like to “wander aimlessly lost” need to sometimes revisit the futility of our lives and the emptiness of our hearts before the Lord found us, and called us into saving faith and the abundant life we have in Him.
Thinking about our past should give us even greater passion to seek out and save the lost living among us in our homes, our workplace, and in our everyday lives. It should also trigger a daily wellspring of praise to the Lord of salvation, and the great things He has done for us.
People today need the Lord as never before. The “household god” called TV has mislead and brainwashed two generations of people with so many lies about what constitutes the good life, and what really matters; no wonder there is so much misery and sin all around us.
Broken homes, suicide rates, addictions of every kind, have made the age of secular humanism a vast wasteland of broken hearts, shattered dreams, wasted lives and unfilled expectations for millions.
Through it all, we have a God who still loves us all, who would have all men to be saved, and who would use us to seek out and proclaim the good news to those who are wandering aimlessly lost, that they might be found before it’s too late.
Father, thank You for coming to me when I was lost, and letting me find the “pearl of great price” which is the love, the forgiveness, and the peace and joy I have found in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
But my eyes are upon You, O GOD the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute.”
