Good Morning Everyone!

This morning as I am getting ready for work… I was thinking about all those Easter baskets I saw at Wal-Mart and all those who are getting in gear …to “get ready” for Easter. I picked up two fedoras for my grandsons and ordered a dress for my granddaughter to wear Easter Sunday. It’s a beautiful time of year…time changes this weekend and the sun will be out longer…flowers and trees are coming alive and blooming reminding us that we are now entering into a new season ‘spring time’.

When I was a child this was an awesome time…my mother bought all of us new Easter clothes…I remember my hat and my gloves the new shoes and the hiding of the eggs such a fun time. As an adult I realize how we have taken the days we should be celebrating our Lord & Savior and paganized them with Santa Clause and Easter Bunnies. I’m not begrudging anyone their way of celebration…I enjoy the giving and all that goes with it…what I am saying is this…it is time to focus on why and Who we are celebrating and taking that truth and teaching our children the true blessings of these holidays.

I begin to think about all the spiritual blessings we miss when we become so involved in the material buying of gift baskets full of toys and chocolate and those gifts are great but let us think about the gifts we can give to our children that will give back to God…hello somebody..and will continually give back to them as they grow…the Word of God tells us…train up a child in the way they should go and when he is old he will not depart from it…Amen!

It is our gift back to Jesus for His sacrifice…  A gift of sacrifice today and tomorrow a gift given from our hearts…like teaching and giving forgiveness ….a gift like helping someone in the grocery line because you can… A gift of helping someone with their workload because you have time… A gift that shows God’s love… This morning I was reading Psalm 46:1-10 and verse 10 is one of my favorite scriptures…sometimes we need to Be still and know that…He is God.. He is the one in control so let Him have the control over your inner being so He can minister through you to others…this is our reasonable sacrifice as the temple of the Holy Ghost.. let our gift be one that gives back to our Heavenly Father “God”…Read…

Psalm 46:1-10  (NKJV)

1 God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has made desolations in the earth.

9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

God is our refuge…our strength…our very present help in trouble… You see by reading this passage of scripture we are reminded that He is continually taking care of us and continually giving to us and although He has the power to melt the earth with His voice…think about that… He could utterly destroy us in our disobedience…but He doesn’t..No! He loves us protects…delivers and saves us… He sacrificed His only Begotten Son Jesus to show us the depths of His love!  That is what Easter is about.

This Easter prepare more than new clothes and baskets…prepare the hearts of your children for the sacrifice of worship…teach them what Resurrection Sunday is really about …even as His focus is on our well being ….let us return that love by celebrating Him daily…not celebrating because Christmas and Easter are fun..celebrate Jesus everyday…how? in all we do and say be an example to our future..how?..by bringing the truth to our children…if we do not teach our children to follow Jesus and to love God the World will teach them not to.

Have a Blessed Day!

    I’m not sure that’s true. I was immersed in Christian teaching as a child and experience of the outside world helped me decide as an adult that Christian teachings are unlikely to be true. I think the best thing any parent can do is give their children lots of love and equip them with an education that allows them to come to their own conclusions. There are so many possibilities and it’s unfair to present any world view as the ‘truth’ – to do so is simply brainwashing and wouldn’t create ‘real’ believers in any case.
