“With Free Will Comes Blessings or Sin”

Revised from 4/02/2013, by bruce r. mills for “God’s group”  @ www.Godsmanforever.com

Romans 7:24O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. (NKJV)

This opening scripture comes after some of the seemingly most difficult
scripture the apostle Paul penned, in his writing of almost half of the New Testament… Romans 7:14-25…has been interpreted by some, as describing an unbeliever… Others, including myself, believe it is the apostle Paul describing his flesh, which was a constant threat urging him to sin… This is a lifelong struggle that all Christians will have to face… But there is victory in Christ… Here is the link for this…

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=rom7:14-25&version=NKJV

The unredeemed sinner has absolutely no chance of fighting off the desires of their flesh…1 John 2:15-16 And with Satan as their father…they will do as he desires…

John 8:44You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
(NKJV)

But praise be to God the Father, for sending down to earth His only Son
Jesus; who shed His blood at the cross…was buried…and then raised from the dead by God, on that “Resurrection Sunday”, almost 2000 years ago… When sinners have been redeemed by God’s grace, through saving faith alone in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9)…they have been given the Holy Spirit by God to combat the Christians flesh and Satan’s temptations to sin…John 14:26

The apostle Paul goes on from the opening scripture, to pen this, in…

Romans 8:5-6For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (NKJV)

The apostle Paul then pens this, in…

Romans 8:9-10But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if  indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10  And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (NKJV)

It is indeed the power of the Holy Spirit, who if left in total control, can
lead the Christian in victory against the continuous attacks of the
Christian’s flesh…

Galatians 5:17-18For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18  But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. (NKJV)

When the Christian submits their lives to Christ; there will be no doubt
they are one of God’s redeemed children… The apostle Paul writes this,
in…

Romans 8:14-16For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (NKJV)

Fear and anxiety come from Satan, not from God… Christians can live a
Spirit filled life (Ephesians 5:18-20), that will be overflowing with God’s
richest blessings… Or they can let Satan and/or their own flesh take back control from the Holy Spirit… The supernatural peace that goes beyond our mortal understanding (which the apostle Paul writes about, in…Philippians 4:6-7), will be gone…when we allow our own flesh and/or un-confessed sins, to take precedence over walking in sweet fellowship with the Lord, as a Spirit filled Christian…Galatians 5:16

Philippians 4:6-7Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (NKJV)

I can personally attest to the truth of this scripture…experiencing “the
peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” during the unfortunate passing of my niece Jennifer almost 3 years ago (almost 7 years now), at the age of only 39… God gives the Christian this supernatural peace, when there should be no peace…through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit…

But I can also attest to the fact, that this supernatural peace and the
absolute joy (John 15:11) one will experience with the fullness of
Christ…can and will depart from the Christian, who takes back control from the Holy Spirit… I had lost my peace and my joy for quite some time after I was graced with salvation by God…until I finally realized the error of my ways… God was gracious to accept my urgent plea for forgiveness (1 John 1:9)…and I have done my best to remain faithful to the leading of the Holy Spirit ever since…

As Spirit filled Christians, we can live for the Lord with a life that is
blessed beyond belief, in so many ways…

Ephesians 3:20Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (NKJV)

Or with the free will God has given us…we can feed our flesh with
temporary pleasures…1 John 2:15-16… But as Christians…we had better
be ready for the chastising and possible scourging that God promises to
those He loves…in order to bring them back into submission to His will and His ways…Hebrews 12:5-11… Here is the link to this scripture…

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Heb12:5-11&version=NKJV

I pray those Christians now living lives that are not pleasing to God…will learn from my mistakes… And that sooner rather than later, they will turn from their sins, by humbling themselves into total submission to God, to again be walking in the Spirit…

Galatians 5:16I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (NKJV)

May God be glorified through my personal life testimony, revealing the power of the Holy Spirit living with-in me…

Heavenly Father, I pray that all of Your children would reach a point in
their lives…where they finally realize that living a Spirit filled life,
totally committed to walking in sweet fellowship with You…is the only way they will be able to live a life filled with all of Your richest blessings,
including absolute joy and supernatural peace that You promise to shower upon Your obedient children… I pray for this fullness of Christ for all of us, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ, bruce
